PD Object Storage for Blesta: getting started

PD Object Storage lets you offer S3-compatible buckets across supported backends through Blesta, using your selected storage backend. It suits offering storage from a choice of supported backends, with the resource linked to the customer’s service.

Before you start

Install PD Modules for Blesta first, connect the account that holds your licence, then install PD Object Storage from its Store. Allow the staff group that needs to use it.

You also need a supported Amazon S3, Cloudflare R2, MinIO or DigitalOcean Spaces backend and its authorised credentials. Check the provider account’s permissions, available locations and capacity before enabling automatic provisioning.

Connect the account

In Settings → Company → Modules, find the installed module, choose Manage and add its account connection. Blesta calls this a module row. Keep this provider connection separate from the package settings.

Define what the customer receives

Create a package using PD Object Storage and review its Module Options and configurable options. Start with Backend, Default region / data location, Default quota and Default max buckets. Together these describe the resource requested when a service is provisioned; they are not just labels on the order form.

Choose Backend first. Its credentials, location and quota behaviour determine how the rest of the package should be configured.

Choose which client controls the package exposes. If you offer configurable options, check that their values match the module’s supported choices and that the defaults describe the service you intend to sell.

Put the service into use

Add the package group to the intended order form when it is ready. Blesta creates the service before provisioning completes; check the service state and ensure the normal cron is running for subsequent updates.

Check the first service

Review the bucket or container, endpoint, access details and recorded usage. Use an authorised small test file to check the customer connection before offering the service more widely.

Creating a real service creates provider resources and can incur provider charges. Review the configuration first; use your normal controlled test process for the first provisioning rather than making an order solely to browse the settings.
