Let customers choose a Lightsail region, plan and OS in Blesta

Offer customers a choice of Lightsail servers by creating Blesta packages with different saved regions, plans and operating-system images. Each package describes one offering, with its own price and billing term.

Before you start

Complete the AWS connection and Lightsail package setup. Decide which combinations you want to sell.

The currently released Blesta module does not provide a Generate options button on its Products page. Use the package settings below to define your offerings. Existing configurable options should be reviewed separately before changing a package’s defaults, because a customer’s selected option can override a default.

Create a package for each offering

  1. Open Packages → Packages → Add Package. Choose PD AWS Lightsail and the intended AWS account.
  2. Choose the Platform and Region. Select a matching Instance plan (bundle) and Blueprint (OS). Check that the chosen plan and image are available for that region and OS family.
  3. Review networking, snapshots and customer controls for this offering. Use the linked package setup guide for the meaning of each setting.
  4. Give the package a clear name and description showing the region, capacity and operating system customers are buying.
  5. Set its selling price and billing term. PD Modules → PD AWS Lightsail → Price Analysis provides a starting point for comparing plan costs; account for any storage, snapshots and networking included in your service.
  6. Add the package to the intended order form under Packages → Order Forms. Repeat for each distinct offering you want customers to choose.

Example: two clearly described offerings

You could offer a London Linux package and a second Linux package with more capacity. Set the region, plan and blueprint on each package, then describe the differences on the order form. The customer chooses the package that fits their needs; its saved settings determine the server created.

Check what customers can order

Open the order form without submitting an order. Check that each package’s name, description, price and term match its saved module settings. Review any attached configurable option groups under Packages → Configurable Options so they do not offer combinations you did not intend.

When you next perform an intentional first-service test, confirm that the resulting server has the region, plan and operating system sold by that package. Changing a package for future orders does not by itself rebuild an existing customer’s server.

See the PD AWS Lightsail Blesta guide for related tasks, or explore the module.
