Give customers RDP connection details for Lightsail in Blesta
PD AWS Lightsail can show a Windows server's RDP connection details on the customer's service page. As the hosting company, you enable the connection control; your customer then uses the displayed host and credentials in their Remote Desktop client.
Prepare the Windows offering
Open Packages → your package → Module Options. Choose Windows under Platform and a matching Blueprint (OS) and Instance plan (bundle) for new Windows services. Enable Client: Connection details and save. Changing these defaults does not convert an existing Linux server into Windows.
For an existing Windows service, check that the connection control is enabled and that the service has finished provisioning. The module needs a working AWS connection to retrieve the server's access details.
Open the connection details
- The customer signs in and opens their Lightsail service's Overview.
- Under Service actions, select Connection details.
- Read RDP host and Username from the window. Use the values shown for this service rather than an address copied from another server.
- When Password is available, use it with those details in the customer's Remote Desktop client.
- Connect and confirm that the expected Windows desktop opens.
The RDP host includes the connection port. If the Remote Desktop client asks for a host and port separately, enter the corresponding parts in those fields. Use the public connection address for an external connection; the private address is for the server's internal network.
If the password is not shown yet
A newly started Windows server may need time before its initial password is available. Allow initial setup to finish, then refresh the service page and reopen Connection details. There is no need to create a second server or reinstall it just because the initial password is not yet displayed.
If an established service still has no password, your team should check the configured AWS account's connection and its permission to retrieve instance access details. The module shows the password returned by AWS; this screen is not a Windows password-reset control. If the password has been changed inside Windows, use the current credential your team or customer maintains.
Check network access if the connection does not open
Confirm the server is running and that the RDP host is the current address for this service. Check the Lightsail firewall and the Windows firewall for RDP access on TCP port 3389. Limit the permitted source to the customer's intended connection network where practical, and review that source if their public address changes.
Enable Client: Firewall only if customers should manage the provider firewall themselves. A correct username and password will not overcome a blocked network path, and opening the provider firewall does not change the Windows firewall inside the server.
Choose the right connection method
The module's browser console uses SSH for Linux servers. For a Windows desktop, use the RDP details instead. Customers do not need to download the Linux SSH key to sign in through Remote Desktop.
