PD Twilio SMS for Blesta: configure SMS notifications

PD Twilio SMS sends client messages from Blesta through Twilio. Begin with the gateway and mobile-number source before enabling automatic notifications.

What the workflow covers

Templates hold reusable wording, Triggers connect events to those templates, and History records attempts and results. Queue settings, retries and quiet hours determine when queued messages are attempted. A queued message is not confirmation of delivery.

Before you start

Install PD Modules for Blesta first, connect the account that holds your licence, then install PD Twilio SMS from its Store. Allow the staff group that needs to use it.

Set up your first workflow

  1. Prepare your Twilio account credentials and a sending identity enabled for SMS, then add the Twilio gateway with its account details and sender.
  2. Use the phone number on the client’s contact in Blesta. In Settings, keep the Phone Number source; selecting a custom-field source does not make the module read a different phone field. Check the effective number and any fallback reported in Health.
  3. Create a short template and use Count segments to check its length. Review Client Preferences, queue behaviour and quiet hours before enabling a trigger.

Check the result

If you make an authorised test to your own number, inspect History for the gateway result. For queued messages, also check the normal Blesta cron. Do not enable a campaign just to test the connection.

The sender must be usable for the destination through your provider. Message length can use more than one segment, so check the preview rather than counting characters alone.
