How to read monthly service margins in PD Cloud Cost & Margin in Blesta
Review the service rows behind a margin result before using it to assess a product. The selected month identifies stored cost data; the revenue side is a configured recurring monthly equivalent.
Review a month
- Open PD Modules → Cost & Margin → Margin.
- Choose the intended period.
- Select Every service to inspect individual rows.
- Review Cloud cost, You charge, Difference, Margin and the verdict.
- Compare the matched service and data coverage with the original bill before interpreting a loss or healthy badge.
The percentage uses the difference divided by revenue. Zero recurring revenue produces no meaningful percentage, while positive costs can still produce a loss verdict. Switching off the always-flag-loss setting changes classification; it does not change the underlying difference.
Understand missing and partial information
Only costs attributed to a recognised service feed the released roll-up. A service absent from the list is not proof that it has no cost or a good margin. The release does not create a complete no-cost row for every provisioned service.
A current or partially collected month’s cost can be compared with a full monthly recurring charge. This can make the displayed margin look better than a complete month’s result. Provider-side billing data can also be delayed or revised; the display is not a live final invoice.
Review stored calculations
Historical rows use the service information available when recalculated, rather than an immutable snapshot of historic prices or actual collections. Some older rows can remain when source data or service availability changes. The service list and headline are bounded and are not an unlimited ledger.
Use a known period and service to reconcile the comparison. Compare the source coverage, recurring charge and currency basis before changing customer pricing merely to improve the module’s badge.
