How to choose the SMS phone-number source in Blesta
Choose the number PD AWS SNS will use before enabling automatic notifications. A valid-looking account telephone number is not proof that it belongs to the intended recipient or can receive SMS.
Select the source
- Open PD Modules → AWS SNS → Settings.
- Review Where to read the client’s mobile number.
- Use Client Phone Number field. The module reads the number on the client’s contact. Selecting a custom-field source does not make it read a different client field; review Health if that option was previously selected.
- Save the setting, then inspect a known test client’s Text messages panel in the administrator area.
The panel shows the effective number and its source, along with message preferences and recent activity. Confirm the result before sending. Changing a source affects how future messages find their recipient; it is not a way to verify ownership of every number already stored.
Review international formatting
The module normalises numbers into international format and can use the client’s country when the number is local. Check both the telephone number and the country on the client record. An incorrect country can produce the wrong international number even when the original local number looks familiar.
For a number entered directly on Send SMS, use international format with a leading plus and country code. When a client is selected, leaving the separate Phone number field blank uses the number on file. Typing a number there is an explicit destination choice: review it carefully rather than assuming the client picker takes precedence.
If the wrong number is selected
Correct the supported client/contact field through Blesta, review the module’s source setting, and inspect the effective number again. Check Health for fallback information. Do not repair database records directly or bulk-rewrite phone numbers to investigate one failure.
A number passing formatting checks may still be a landline, unavailable for SMS or restricted by AWS. Use a Test / Debug Log only rehearsal for the module workflow; a real delivery test is a separate action.
Several SMS modules on one installation
Only one PD SMS module draws the shared Text messages panel. When several are enabled, PD SMS Manager takes precedence when present. The shared panel can therefore show that module’s configured number. Check AWS SNS → Settings and the intended workflow’s own phone source, then use an explicitly selected Test / Debug Log only rehearsal. Do not assume that one shared profile panel proves every enabled module’s recipient routing.
