How to connect Amazon SNS to SMS Manager in Blesta
Use your intended AWS SMS account, region and sending identity when adding an Amazon SNS gateway to PD SMS Manager. The connection needs an access-key pair; creating the saved gateway does not send a text or register a sender.
Prepare the AWS access
Have the AWS administrator supply an appropriate AWS Access Key ID and AWS Secret Access Key. Sending through SNS needs sns:Publish; optional account-information reads are separate permissions. Do not attach broad account access merely to obtain a green connection result.
This gateway has no session-token or role-authentication fields. Do not substitute an incomplete temporary credential set. Choose an available AWS Region matching the intended SMS setup rather than selecting one simply because it is closest to a customer.
Add the Amazon SNS gateway
- Open SMS Manager → Gateways → Add a gateway and choose Amazon SNS.
- Enter a recognisable Gateway name, Access Key ID and matching Secret Access Key.
- Choose AWS Region.
- Review Sender ID (optional), Origination number (optional) and SMS type for the intended traffic.
- Save, use Test connection, and read its full result before reviewing default routing.
An identity must be available to the sending account and suitable for the destination. SNS can also require permission to use the identity; typing a name into Sender ID does not register it. Review AWS’s sender-ID troubleshooting guidance.
Separate account checks from delivery
New SNS SMS accounts are sandboxed and restricted to verified destinations. See AWS’s SMS sandbox guidance. Leaving the sandbox does not remove sender, destination or provider-side restrictions.
The connection check attempts account reads and can report an accepted credential even when account information is unavailable. It does not prove every sending permission. Use the Phone Number source in Settings; the module reads the client’s contact number, not a separate nominated custom field.
Use Log only to rehearse module processing without AWS traffic. An intended real test is separate and may be chargeable. SNS initial acceptance is not later phone delivery; keep its provider reference and reconcile an Unknown result before resending.
