How to choose the Twilio From sender in Blesta
The From field on a PD Twilio SMS gateway controls the sending identity. It can hold an SMS-capable Twilio number, an appropriate alphanumeric sender ID or a Twilio Messaging Service SID. These are different choices, with different destination support.
Choose a single sender or a service
For a single number, use the full international number from the intended Twilio account. Confirm it supports SMS and the destinations you intend to reach. An arbitrary business phone number is not made into a Twilio sender by entering it in this field.
For a Messaging Service, enter its SID beginning `MG` in From. Add the intended senders to that service’s sender pool in Twilio first. The module recognises the service identifier and asks Twilio to select a sender from that service; a service with no eligible sender does not create a route automatically.
An alphanumeric sender is for branded one-way messages where the destination supports it. Review support and any required registration before use. There is no separate Default Sender ID setting in PD Twilio SMS: use the gateway’s From value or configure the sender in the selected Messaging Service.
Save the intended routing
- Open PD Modules → Twilio SMS → Gateways and configure the intended Twilio gateway.
- Check that its credentials and Account SID match the sending setup.
- Enter the selected number, sender ID or Messaging Service SID in From, copying an identifier exactly.
- Save and review any triggers using that gateway or Default routing.
Test connection checks a message-list read, not whether From is available or eligible for a destination. Keep the receiving client’s number separate from this sending identity.
Understand service selection and failures
Twilio’s Messaging Services guidance describes sender selection. Do not assume that adding an Alpha Sender creates an automatic fallback for every failed delivery. Sender eligibility, pool configuration and destination support matter.
If a send fails, inspect the provider reference or error in History and correlate it with Twilio’s message details. A missing or ineligible sender calls for reviewing the service or number in Twilio, not repeatedly resending or changing the client’s telephone number.
Check the configured sender
Compare the saved From value with the intended number, sender ID or Messaging Service in your Twilio account. Check the account match, SMS capability and Messaging Service sender pool. Distinguish a saved setting from a provider refusal or an accepted message that has not been delivered.
