Choose an AWS region for PD AWS ElastiCache in Blesta

Choose the AWS region before offering a cache through PD AWS ElastiCache. The region affects application latency, node availability and the network where the cache is created. Select it with the application’s location and private connectivity in mind.

Check the deployment location

  1. Identify where the application using the cache runs.
  2. Open the package’s Module settings and review Region.
  3. Review the intended node type, engine and engine version together.
  4. Ask the AWS administrator to confirm default-VPC and subnet prerequisites in that region.
  5. Save and review the accepted order or service selections before provisioning.

The module attempts to arrange a cache subnet group and security group using the region’s default VPC. A region in a selector does not prove that the account has the network, capacity or permissions needed there. Node types also vary by region. Review the resulting network assignment rather than assuming a passing account test checked it.

Keep test results in context

The module-panel connection test uses its default test region and first active account. A passing read does not prove that a cache can be created in the region selected on this package. Check its account association separately.

Treat a move as separate work

Editing a package default does not move an existing cache or its data to another region. Keep the original service and application connection intact while the AWS administrator plans the destination, required data transfer and application cutover. Record the source and destination separately and establish how the destination will be managed before creating a replacement or retiring the source. Another creation request does not move existing cache contents or attach a separately restored resource. Read the private-network planning guide before changing an application’s connection assumptions.
