PD Google Cloud PostgreSQL for Blesta: getting started
PD Google Cloud PostgreSQL lets you offer Cloud SQL for PostgreSQL instances through Blesta, using Google Cloud. It suits PostgreSQL applications on Google Cloud, with the resource linked to the customer’s service.
Before you start
Install PD Modules for Blesta first, connect the account that holds your licence, then install PD Google Cloud PostgreSQL from its Store. Allow the staff group that needs to use it.
You also need a Google Cloud project, the Cloud SQL API and an authorised service account. Check the provider account’s permissions, available locations and capacity before enabling automatic provisioning.
Connect the account
In Settings → Company → Modules, find the installed module, choose Manage and add its account connection. Blesta calls this a module row. Keep this provider connection separate from the package settings.
Define what the customer receives
Create a package using PD Google Cloud PostgreSQL and review its Module Options and configurable options. Start with Region, Engine, Plan, Engine version and Storage. Together these describe the resource requested when a service is provisioned; they are not just labels on the order form.
Use the engine-specific module for the database you intend to sell. A plan name alone does not select the right SQL engine.
Choose which client controls the package exposes. If you offer configurable options, check that their values match the module’s supported choices and that the defaults describe the service you intend to sell.
Put the service into use
Add the package group to the intended order form when it is ready. Blesta creates the service before provisioning completes; check the service state and ensure the normal cron is running for subsequent updates.
Check the first service
Review the instance state, trusted-source access and the database or user details before connecting an application.
Creating a real service creates provider resources and can incur provider charges. Review the configuration first; use your normal controlled test process for the first provisioning rather than making an order solely to browse the settings.
