Point a website to Azure DNS A, AAAA or CNAME records from Blesta

Publish the address or hostname needed for a website your hosting team or customer is configuring through PD Azure DNS. DNS sends visitors towards a destination; it does not install the website or configure that destination’s HTTPS certificate.

Choose the record and authoritative zone

Open Azure DNS → Zones, then the intended zone’s Records page. Customers can use My Tools in the client portal, then the DNS manager. Confirm that the registrar delegates the domain to this Azure zone.

Use A for an IPv4 address, AAAA for IPv6, or CNAME for another hostname. A CNAME target is a hostname rather than a full web URL. The root domain and a www name are different records and may need different settings from the web host.

Save the intended change

  1. Search for the full name/type before adding another entry.
  2. Choose Add record and the intended type.
  3. Enter its name, destination and TTL in the appropriate fields.
  4. For a replacement, use Edit on the intended existing value.
  5. Save, reload and compare the complete resulting record set.

Azure groups values of the same name/type into one record set with a shared TTL. Adding another address can leave both old and new destinations active. Use an edit when the purpose is to replace one value.

A CNAME has one target and cannot coexist with other ordinary record types at the same name. It cannot be placed at the zone apex, which already has authority records. Do not assume this module offers Azure’s other resource-alias features merely because a different DNS provider has an alias editor.

Check public behaviour

Verify the authoritative answer, then a normal resolver and the website/HTTPS hostname. Old answers can remain cached for their earlier TTL. A correct DNS answer with an incorrect website needs a hosting/certificate investigation, not repeated record changes.

For a refused save, retain the exact policy, quota, lock or Azure authorisation result. Before changing a working record set widely, take a current snapshot and understand its recovery limits.

See the PD Azure DNS Blesta guide for related tasks, or explore the module.
