How to connect Twilio to SMS Manager in Blesta

Connect the Twilio account intended to carry your SMS traffic, using matching account credentials and an approved sender. PD SMS Manager supports API-key authentication and Auth Token authentication; the Account SID is needed in either mode.

Prepare the account and credential

Install PD Modules, connect the account holding your licence and install PD SMS Manager. Keep the intended Twilio Account SID available. Twilio recommends application API keys; a dedicated key can be replaced independently of unrelated integrations. Follow Twilio’s API-key guidance.

A Restricted API key can grant message-list and message-creation permissions separately. The module’s connection test lists messages, while sending creates a message. Review both intended operations instead of granting account-management access just to make a test pass. Credentials are region-specific, and this native gateway has no alternate API-region selector.

Add the gateway

  1. Open SMS Manager → Gateways → Add a gateway and choose Twilio.
  2. Give it a recognisable Gateway name and enter Account SID, beginning AC.
  3. Under Authenticate with, choose the intended API Key or Auth Token mode.
  4. For API Key, enter API Key SID beginning SK and its matching API Key Secret. For Auth Token, enter the intended account’s token instead.
  5. Set From to the approved SMS sender, or a Twilio Messaging Service SID beginning MG with appropriate senders available in its pool.
  6. Save and use Test connection, then deliberately review default and explicit routing.

Do not exchange an Account SID, API Key SID and Messaging Service SID: each identifies a different thing. For a number, use international format and confirm SMS capability for the intended destination.

Confirm the intended workflow

Use the Phone Number source in Settings; the module reads the client’s contact number, not a separate nominated custom field. A successful message-list read does not prove creation permission, sender readiness or delivery. Review any account restrictions on verified destinations before a real send.

Use Test / Debug Log only for a module rehearsal. A deliberately intended real test can incur provider charges. Inspect History and the Twilio message reference afterwards, and reconcile an Unknown result before repeating it.
