How a client enables SMS Manager text-message sign-in in WHMCS
After you make Text Message available for clients, your customer can enrol their own mobile as a second step at WHMCS sign-in. This is an individual user setting, separate from the account’s billing and support notification preferences.
Start from the client area
Ask your customer to follow these steps in their own WHMCS user login:
- Sign in to the intended WHMCS client user account.
- Open Hello, Name! → Security Settings.
- Under Two-Factor Authentication, choose Click here to Enable.
- Select Text Message, then Get Started.
- Review the Mobile number and enter the intended number in full international format, starting with plus and its country code.
- Choose Send code, enter the received code and choose Confirm.
The initial number can be offered from the account’s notification field, depending on the host’s setting. It remains editable during enrolment. A user can choose a different phone for sign-in; they do not need to change the shared account telephone merely to use their own mobile.
Keep the recovery information
Ask your customer to retain the WHMCS backup code shown when enrolment completes, using their normal secure storage. That code is supplied by WHMCS and is separate from the temporary SMS code. Do not put either code into a support ticket or send it to staff for confirmation.
At later sign-ins, your customer enters their password and follows the Text Message challenge. Check the displayed countdown, and use the offered new-code action when available rather than repeatedly requesting or guessing codes. A newer code replaces the previous outstanding one.
Multiple people on one account
Each user enrols separately. Enabling Text Message for one login does not enrol other users who can access the same client account. The account’s notification number stays a separate shared contact value.
If your customer cannot select the method, check that you enabled it for clients. If a code does not arrive, compare the original screen result and gateway attempt using the missing-code checks.
