How to enable SMS Manager text-message two-factor sign-in in WHMCS

Make Text Message available as a WHMCS two-factor method after configuring PD SMS Manager and a working real SMS gateway. As the hosting operator, you make the method available; each customer user or staff member enrols their own phone separately.

Check the gateway first

Install PD Modules, connect the account holding your licence and install PD SMS Manager. Review its default gateway and sender readiness. Sign-in codes use immediate default-gateway routing, rather than waiting for the normal message queue or quiet hours.

A Test / Debug Log only gateway can record successful processing without delivering a code. A provider outage or an unusable default can therefore prevent an enrolled person completing sign-in. Establish intended delivery and keep your existing recovery access before relying on this method.

Make Text Message available

  1. In the WHMCS admin area, open Configuration → System Settings → Two-Factor Authentication.
  2. Find Text Message and choose Activate.
  3. Select Enable for use by Clients, and Enable for use by Administrative Users if staff should be offered it.
  4. Review the method’s configuration and save.

Code length offers four to eight digits, with six as the default. Code valid for offers 2, 5, 10 or 15 minutes, with five as the default. Ask for the number instead controls whether a usable client notification number is offered initially; it does not lock the person to that number.

Separate availability from enrolment

Saving these settings does not enrol every user. WHMCS’s global Force settings are a separate policy for requiring two-factor authentication, rather than a switch that enrols everyone specifically in Text Message. Review any such policy separately from making this method available.

If Text Message is missing, check that PD Modules and PD SMS Manager are installed and active, then compare the native availability settings with the screen result. The module’s after-sign-in notification trigger is a different feature and does not enable this method.
