Check advertised CMS-version findings in Site Sentinel for WHMCS
Site Sentinel can recognise a CMS from information published by the home page. Treat its version finding as a prompt to check the actual installation.
Review the advertised information
- Open PD Modules → Site Sentinel → Sites and review Runs for the intended website.
- Open Needs attention and read The CMS advertises an old version if present.
- Check Identify the CMS and its version in Settings.
- Confirm the site’s current version and updates through its own administration tools.
Detection uses a recognised generator meta tag or a generator response header. A site can omit or alter that information. The warning uses built-in major-version thresholds, not a live vulnerability database or a full plugin/theme inventory.
Do not equate a hint with patch status
An advertised old version may be inaccurate or patched; an unrecognised or absent version does not prove the site is current. Do not present a missing module warning as evidence that every installed component is up to date.
Compare a fresh check
After an authorised website update, arrange the next relevant scan and compare the website’s actual version with the module finding. Stored Runs information can remain from an earlier successful identification when a later check provides no version. Check the row’s history and direct installation information before treating a displayed value as newly measured.
