Connect your AWS account to PD AWS Lightsail in WHMCS

Add the AWS connection before creating a Lightsail product. PD AWS Lightsail stores the connection on a WHMCS server record; the product then selects the server or server group it will use.

This guide is for the hosting operator. It does not create a Lightsail instance.

Before you start

Install PD Modules and PD AWS Lightsail, connect the account that holds your licence, and allow the administrator role that will configure it. Have an AWS access key ID and secret access key authorised for the Lightsail operations you intend to use.

Use dedicated IAM credentials rather than root-account keys. The module’s Setup documentation includes its required AWS policy; review that against the features you will offer. Do not paste AWS keys into tickets, screenshots or product descriptions.

Add the connection

  1. In WHMCS, open System Settings → Servers → Add New Server.
  2. Give the server a recognisable name, such as AWS Lightsail.
  3. Select PD Lightsail as the server module.
  4. Enter the AWS Access Key ID in Username and the Secret Access Key in Password. These fields hold the provider connection, not a customer’s server login.
  5. Choose Test Connection. Check that WHMCS reports a successful connection before saving.
  6. Save the server record. If your product uses a server group, add this server to the intended group and select that group when configuring the product.

The module-wide Settings page holds preferences such as a default region. Enter the AWS keys on the WHMCS server record rather than looking for credential fields among those preferences.

Check the result

Return to the saved server and test the connection again. A successful test confirms the credentials work for that connection check; it does not prove permission for every optional provisioning, snapshot or networking action.

When configuring a product, select the intended connection and check that its plan and operating-system choices load. Use an account whose permitted regions and available resources match the product you intend to sell.

If the connection fails

An invalid-credentials result calls for checking the key ID and secret, including accidental spaces or a revoked key. A permission error calls for reviewing the IAM policy for the reported action. Update the connection record and test again after correcting it.

Keep existing working connections in place while investigating. Correct the identified setting and retest the intended saved connection.
