Enable the Lightsail browser SSH console in WHMCS

PD AWS Lightsail offers an optional browser terminal for running Linux servers. It is a separate access method from downloading a private key and using your own SSH client. Enable both the module-wide setting and the product’s client control before expecting your customers to see it.

Before you start

Use an already provisioned Linux service with its SSH key available. Confirm that it is running and reachable over SSH. A stopped instance or an operating system configured only for RDP does not satisfy the Linux-console requirements.

The browser terminal uses PD’s hosted console relay. Live terminal traffic passes through that service while connected. Review the module’s Browser console documentation when deciding whether to offer this access method. Customers can instead connect directly with their SSH client.

Enable the two controls

  1. Open PD Modules → PD AWS Lightsail → Settings.
  2. Turn on Enable the in-browser SSH console and save. This master switch is off by default.
  3. Open System Settings → Products/Services → your product → Module Settings.
  4. Enable Client: Console in the client-area features and save the product.
  5. Check an eligible running Linux service in the client area. Its service actions should offer Console or Open console.
  6. Open a session and confirm that the terminal reaches the intended server. Close the session when finished.

Enabling the module switch does not make the console available on products whose own console control is disabled. Likewise, enabling the product control cannot override the module-wide switch.

If the button is absent

Check both settings, then the service’s running state, operating-system family and available SSH key. Confirm that you are checking the product actually attached to that service. Do not reinstall a working server merely to make a button appear.

If the session cannot connect

A visible button does not establish network reachability. Check the instance’s SSH service and firewall access. An IPv6-only server also needs a connection path that supports IPv6; follow any reachability notice shown by the console.

Compare the result with a direct SSH connection using the same service’s current connection details. If both fail, continue your hosting-team checks of the instance, SSH service and network access. If direct SSH works, record that result alongside the browser-console failure; the difference helps identify the path that needs investigation.
