How to add PageSpeed Insights results to WHMCS Care Reports
Add a mobile performance snapshot to PD Care Reports when it helps explain website work to your customer. The module uses Google PageSpeed Insights in WHMCS; it does not turn one report into a continuous performance monitor.
Prepare the API connection
Follow Google’s PageSpeed Insights API setup guide to obtain an API key for the intended project. Use the current Google project configuration and review its applicable quota rather than relying on a fixed allowance promised elsewhere.
PD Care Reports requires a saved key for this section, even though Google also documents API use without one. Keep the key private and follow Google’s current restriction options for its intended API use.
Enable the report section
- Open PD Modules → Care Reports → Settings.
- Enter Google PageSpeed Insights API key.
- Enable Page speed and Core Web Vitals and save.
- Generate or regenerate the intended draft through the report workflow.
- Preview it and check whether the Speed section contains a score and available metrics.
The report requests the mobile performance analysis and reads Lighthouse data. Google documents the available analysis strategies in its API reference. Interpret the displayed score and metrics as the generation-time lab measurement, not a monthly visitor average or a complete real-user Core Web Vitals assessment.
Investigate a missing speed section
Check that the API is enabled for the project, the saved key is correct, the section is enabled and Google can reach the site. Authentication, a challenge page, a blocked fetch or a slow response can prevent a measurement. Other report sections can still be available.
Generation can perform another API request each time; there is no dependable once-per-site-per-month request cap in this workflow. Repeating generation can therefore consume more quota, even when an already sent report retains its stored numbers. Reconcile the saved report and use your normal authorised API diagnostics rather than placing a key in a public support message or URL example.
