How to set comparison currency and margin thresholds in WHMCS
Set the comparison basis before interpreting PD Cloud Cost & Margin. A currency label or a margin badge does not independently verify the completeness of the underlying bill.
Review the comparison settings
- Open PD Modules → Cost & Margin → Settings.
- Review Currency your provider bills you in against the actual cost data.
- Review the rate converting your WHMCS currency into that comparison currency. It means comparison-currency units for one source-currency unit, rather than its inverse.
- Review Warn below this margin and Always flag services that lose money.
- Save only after checking the intended currency basis and thresholds.
The percentage is calculated as revenue minus cost, divided by revenue. It is a margin on revenue, not a percentage added on top of cost. The threshold is your review preference; this guide does not prescribe a selling price or a suitable business margin.
Confirm the inputs
Revenue is a monthly equivalent of the configured recurring charge, not a sum of paid invoices. Annual and longer cycles are spread over their cycle length; one-time and free cycles do not supply recurring monthly revenue. The comparison is therefore not a complete accounting profit calculation.
The released workflow applies a common conversion rate and does not validate every imported currency or independently reconcile each service’s currency. For mixed currencies, independently reconcile the source currencies and conversion before relying on the result. Changing the display currency does not convert previously stored provider costs.
Recalculate deliberately
Settings changes alone do not rewrite all saved monthly service calculations. Review the period and appropriate recalculation workflow, then check a known row. A refresh can contact a provider; do not use it merely to inspect settings. Compare the period, source currencies and rate direction with a known service row if the comparison remains unclear.
