How to compare cloud margins by product or client in WHMCS
Grouped views help identify which WHMCS services need a closer review. Use them as navigation into the underlying data, rather than as a complete customer-profit statement.
Choose a group
- Open PD Modules → Cost & Margin → Margin.
- Select the intended month.
- Choose By product or By client.
- Review the service count, cost, configured revenue, difference and margin for the group.
- Switch to Every service to investigate individual rows contributing to the result.
The shared panel uses By product as the control label. For WHMCS, this groups the saved service results by their product. Group margin is calculated from summed revenue and cost, not by averaging the individual percentages.
Check verdict filters
The grouped query does not apply the individual verdict filter in the same way as Every service. A selected losing-money filter can therefore disagree with the grouped rows. Use Everything for a broad grouped review, then Every service when you need a verdict-specific list.
Headline figures and service lists can be capped while grouped queries include a different set of stored rows. A mismatch does not necessarily mean arithmetic is broken; check the period, grouping, row coverage and stored calculations first.
Interpret the scope
Groups include attributed cloud costs and configured recurring revenue available to the module. They omit unallocated charges and other business costs, and do not establish collected revenue. A profitable-looking group can also contain a loss-making individual service.
If a group looks wrong, compare the month, group, expected services and totals against the individual service rows. Use the native WHMCS administration screens to locate service records where a panel shortcut does not resolve correctly.
