How to choose a signature method and reading controls in WHMCS
PD Agreements offers a tick box, typed full name or drawn signature. Choose the method that suits the interaction you want customers to complete, then check the actual signing screen.
Set the method on an agreement
Open PD Modules → Agreements → Agreements. Open Edit on the intended agreement or choose New agreement. Find How they sign in the editor.
- Choose Tick box for acceptance using the agreement’s acceptance control.
- Choose Typed full name when the customer should also enter their name.
- Choose Drawn signature when the customer should draw on the signature pad with a mouse or touch input.
These options describe the captured interaction. There is no staff counter-signature step in this workflow, and selecting a method does not create an acceptance on a customer’s behalf.
Understand the default
In Agreements → Settings, Default signature method for new agreements selects the starting choice for new documents. It does not replace the method you already saved on each agreement. Reopen an existing document to check its own method.
Configure reading before acceptance
On the agreement, Reading offers They must scroll to the end before they can accept. In Settings, Require the customer to scroll to the end is the master control.
Scrolling is required when both the master control and the agreement’s own Reading checkbox are enabled. If the document is shorter than its display area, the acceptance control can unlock without a scroll because its end is already visible. Scrolling through text is not a guarantee that someone understood it.
Save and check the right surface
Review the audience and request timing before saving. For an already published agreement, changing the method or Reading control is an agreement setting change; it does not rewrite an older accepted version.
Use a suitable controlled account to review the text, acceptance control and selected method. Check the checkout surface for checkout agreements and the signing page for account-visit requests. Confirm that a typed-name request has its name field or that a drawn-signature request has its pad and clear control.
If acceptance remains disabled, check the document display and both Reading controls. If a typed name or drawn signature is missing, complete the indicated field rather than repeatedly clicking accept.
Your hosting team should retain the method, request timing, browser/device and redacted error while checking the indicated control or field. Use a harmless example for screenshots, keeping real signatures, private documents and customer details out of them.
Check the signing controls
Your hosting team should compare the agreement’s saved method and Reading checkbox with the global reading control and the actual customer surface. A short document may already show its end; a typed name or drawing still needs the acceptance box and submission. Use a harmless document when checking the indicated missing field and browser/device behaviour. Do not ask customers to email drawings or passwords as a workaround.
