Manage DNS zones and records for any provider — Cloudflare, Route 53, cPanel, PowerDNS and more, in WHMCS
Manage your DirectAdmin DNS zones and records inside WHMCS — fast, self-service, auto-provisioned
Made and supported by Projektif Digital Ltd. Runs inside PD Modules, the panel every module installs into.
PD DirectAdmin DNS lets a hosting company manage the DNS zones on its DirectAdmin servers from inside WHMCS, and gives its customers a Manage DNS area in the client portal so they can change their own records without a ticket. Zones are tied to the clients and domains that own them, records are edited in WHMCS and written straight to DirectAdmin, and your customers never receive a DirectAdmin login.
It is built for hosts whose nameservers run DirectAdmin: you keep DirectAdmin as the place DNS is served from, and WHMCS becomes the place your team and your customers work on it.
Scoped access, not a password. The module signs in with a DirectAdmin login key, which you can limit to the commands it needs, restrict to your WHMCS server's address and give an expiry date. Where a server is too old to offer login keys, an account password works instead.
DirectAdmin stays the source of truth. Records are read live and written back the moment you save. The module keeps no copy of them, so WHMCS can never show something DirectAdmin is not serving.
Your team stops switching tools. Every zone on the server is listed with its client, the domain or service it is bound to, its nameservers, health, DNSSEC state and last backup. Search and filter by name, client, provider or status; the list pages on the server, so it stays quick with thousands of zones.
Customers handle their own changes. An MX record for new mail, a TXT record for a verification, a CNAME for a new subdomain: customers add, edit and delete these on their own zones. They can reach only zones bound to their own account.
Honest about how DirectAdmin works. DirectAdmin creates and removes a DNS zone together with its domain. The module says so and does nothing else: Create zone and Delete zone explain this instead of acting, and no setting of the module deletes a zone at DirectAdmin. Your zones cannot be removed by a stray click.
Backups you did not have to remember. Zones are snapshotted on a schedule as BIND zone files, and any snapshot can be downloaded or restored.

Customer pages never show your server address or credentials and never name the server behind their DNS. Every string is translatable, with wording overrides that survive updates.
PD DirectAdmin DNS is one paid module with everything included and no per-zone or per-seat fee. It installs into PD Modules, updates itself, and uninstalls without leaving tables behind or touching WHMCS files.
It is listed as beta: it is built on DirectAdmin's official API and checked against that API's documented behaviour, and it leaves beta as results from hosts' live servers come in. If your subscription lapses, DNS records are never touched and DirectAdmin keeps serving every zone.
No. PD DirectAdmin DNS reads records live from your DirectAdmin server and writes changes back immediately. DirectAdmin remains the authoritative source of truth. The module stores only metadata — zone ownership, backup snapshots and activity logs — in your WHMCS database.
PD DirectAdmin DNS works with DirectAdmin 1.59 and later. Login keys are strongly recommended over account passwords for API access — they can be scoped and rotated without changing the main account password.
Yes. Add multiple providers in the Providers panel — one per DirectAdmin server. You can manage zones from all of them through the same interface.
No. DirectAdmin removes a DNS zone with its domain, so this module never deletes one: **Delete zone** in a zone's ⋯ menu, the orphan setting **When cleaning an orphan, also delete the zone at the provider** and turning off **Keep the DNS zone when a service is terminated** all say that the zone has to be removed in DirectAdmin and leave it in place. Removing a provider, cleaning up an orphan and terminating a service otherwise leave the zone untouched.
A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, NS, SRV and PTR, each with a type-aware editor that checks addresses and hostnames before saving.
Yes. DNSSEC can be enabled or disabled per zone directly from the panel. When enabled, PD DirectAdmin DNS shows the DS record and DNSKEY details in a copy-ready block to hand to the registrar.
DNS records are never touched on lapse — your zones and records stay exactly as they are and keep being served. Management steps down in stages: admin management locks first while your customers keep their own DNS self-service, which stops only later, behind a neutral 'temporarily unavailable' message. Renewing restores everything.
For domains already on the server, yes: enable 'Automatically create a DNS zone on registration and new services' in Settings. Its zone is linked to the customer when a domain is registered or transferred, or a service with a domain is set up. DirectAdmin creates a zone with its domain, so a domain that is not on the server yet is reported in Activity, not created. Separately, the TLD takeover list on your provider names the extensions whose nameservers are also pointed at DirectAdmin when such a domain is registered or transferred (registrar modules that support nameserver changes).
Only what you already pay your provider. PD DirectAdmin DNS adds no per-unit fee and takes no cut — it connects to your own account with your own credentials, so the provider bills you directly at your rates, and you set what you charge your customers. From us it is the module subscription and nothing else.
WHMCS 9 or later, on PHP 8.2 or later. It installs alongside whatever else you run — it adds its own tables and templates rather than modifying WHMCS files, so it does not collide with other vendors' modules or with a customised theme. Uninstalling removes its own tables and settings and leaves no orphans behind.
