Enable or suspend MinIO object versioning from WHMCS
Use object versioning to retain earlier versions of files written to a PD MinIO S3 bucket. It can help recover an overwritten object, but it also increases stored data and does not replace an independent backup.
Inspect and change the selected bucket
- Open the intended service’s Storage settings.
- Select the exact bucket and inspect its versioning state.
- Choose the offered versioning setting and review the change.
- Save, then reopen the selected bucket’s settings to verify the result.
- Verify the application’s version-aware recovery workflow with appropriate test data.
Review each extra bucket independently; a default used when creating the primary bucket is not proof every additional bucket inherited it. The host’s storage-settings control must be enabled for the client to use this feature.
Understand what suspension leaves behind
Suspending versioning does not remove previously stored versions. In a versioned bucket, an ordinary object delete can create a delete marker while earlier data remains stored. A version-aware application may still retrieve an earlier version where its access policy allows it.
Historical data can continue using quota. Current-object expiration alone is not proof that every noncurrent version has been removed. Use the cleanup guide before configuring expiration.
Plan recovery and space together
Removing a specific version is permanent. Inspect the required recovery points before authorising cleanup, and verify the actual stored bytes afterwards.
If a hard-quota pause refuses an older-version read or delete, have your hosting team’s storage administrator review the specific version and access state. The normal over-quota policy does not grant every version operation; do not assume repeatedly deleting the current object will free its history.
Check the saved versioning state
Your hosting team should compare the selected bucket and reopened versioning state with the requested change and original Activity result. Review each extra bucket independently; suspending versioning does not remove historical versions, and an ordinary current-object delete can leave a marker and retained bytes. If a quota restriction refuses a specific older-version operation, your storage administrator must review the actual version and access state through your authorised storage process. Do not permanently remove versions merely to test the setting.
