Point a website with Google Cloud DNS A, AAAA or CNAME records in WHMCS
Use PD Google Cloud DNS to publish the address or hostname needed for a website your hosting team or customer is configuring. DNS routing is separate from installing the website, serving its requested hostname or configuring HTTPS on the destination.
Choose the authoritative zone and type
Open Google Cloud DNS → Zones → Records for the intended domain, or use the enabled DNS Manager navigation link or Manage DNS on a linked domain/service. Confirm the project and the registrar’s delegation to this managed zone.
Choose A for IPv4, AAAA for IPv6 or CNAME for another hostname. A CNAME target is not a web URL with a protocol or page path. The root domain and www are different names, so follow the host’s requirements for each.
Add or edit deliberately
- Search for existing records at the full name/type.
- Choose Add record and the intended type.
- Enter name, destination and TTL in the relevant fields.
- For a replacement, use Edit on the intended existing value.
- Save, reload and compare the complete resulting record set.
Values of the same name/type share one TTL in Google Cloud DNS. Adding a new address can leave both the original and new destinations in use. An edit is different from adding another value.
A CNAME must have one target and cannot coexist with other ordinary records at the same name or sit at the zone apex. The editor normalises hostname presentation where required; compare the resulting fully qualified target rather than adding duplicate records over a trailing-dot difference.
Verify visitors separately
Check the authoritative answer, a normal resolver and the actual website/HTTPS hostname. Earlier answers can remain cached until their prior TTL expires. Correct DNS with the wrong site or certificate needs a hosting investigation.
For a refused save, inspect the exact policy, quota, lock or provider permission result. Keep a current record snapshot before a broad revision, then review the restore plan and its record, provider-configuration and delegation limits before using it.
