Assign Google Cloud DNS zones to clients in WHMCS

Give customers portal access to their own Google Cloud DNS records by assigning the intended zone to the right account. This does not provide a Google Cloud login or expose the provider’s service-account JSON.

Bind the correct zone

  1. Open Google Cloud DNS → Zones and identify the intended provider/domain.
  2. Review the current records and the customer’s related domain or service.
  3. Choose Assign to client from the zone menu.
  4. Select the intended account and optional related domain/service.
  5. Save and confirm the resulting ownership and binding information.

Check the project and public delegation independently. A same-named zone from another project should not be assigned simply to make a portal link appear.

Explain how to open records

The customer uses the enabled DNS Manager navigation link or Manage DNS on a linked domain/service. The zone’s record editor offers fields relevant to its selected type, and supported zone-file downloads are available without handing over the provider credential.

Only the customer’s assigned zones should be visible. A missing signing control is expected here: the module does not configure Google Cloud DNSSEC signing. That provider-side task is covered by the signing-scope guide.

Diagnose access and editing separately

A zone lock can pause client edits while administrators retain management controls. The domain-only editing policy separately controls full editing, view-only access or hidden record pages. Quotas, content rules and provider permissions can refuse a particular save even when the zone is visible.

Check ownership, active service, navigation and the exact refusal before changing credentials. Do not distribute an administrative API token as a workaround for a customer policy restriction.

Removing a binding withdraws portal management without being a request to delete the provider zone. Keep that separate from an explicit destructive zone-deletion operation. See the allowance guide for count-related refusals.

See the PD Google Cloud DNS WHMCS guide for related tasks, or explore the module.
