Troubleshoot DigitalOcean Spaces provisioning and access in WHMCS
Check the original PD DigitalOcean Spaces operation before repeating setup or replacing credentials. A billing record, created bucket and working customer connection are separate results.
Identify the failed step
- Record the intended service, selected module account and original action time.
- Inspect Clients & Storage and Activity.
- Check whether the expected provisioning event actually ran.
- Establish which bucket or credential already exists.
- Keep the exact redacted error and operation result before deciding on a retry.
Review the product’s automatic setup policy and the original payment event.
A bucket can exist even when a later credential or verification step failed. An uncertain outcome is not a reason to create repeated orders or delete a similarly named native bucket.
Check account and customer credentials separately
The host token needs the intended Spaces-key permissions and dependencies. The connection test uses the first configured account and creates a temporary full-access key to list buckets; it is not a read-only check or proof that every setting write will succeed. Ask the responsible administrator to review a permission refusal before granting broader access.
For a customer application, compare the issued regional endpoint, exact bucket and complete current service key pair. Follow the application connection guide. Do not use the host token in an S3 application or rotate merely to show a saved secret.
Inspect actual state after a refusal
A failed access-mode or bucket-scope operation does not prove that the requested permissions were applied. Inspect the recorded result with your own DigitalOcean administrator and compare the actual service key grants with the requested access state. Credential rotation is not a universal repair for a failed state change.
Usage figures and a quota value do not by themselves prove the cause of an access refusal or complete version-aware accounting. Separate connection errors from actual service restrictions and provider responses.
Retain the module, service reference, intended account label, original operation time and redacted error while your hosting team identifies the failing stage. Use supported administrator controls and exclude credentials, full account inventories, customer files and signed links from shared evidence.
Check the provisioning stage
Your hosting team and DigitalOcean administrator should compare the original provisioning event, intended module account and accepted region with the actual bucket, service keys and Activity result. Distinguish a host-token refusal, partial bucket creation, failed key issuance and customer application signing or access problems. A failed permission transition does not establish that the requested grants applied; inspect the actual key grants and service state before retrying. Do not create repeated orders, purge storage or rotate keys merely to obtain a different result.
