Connect a BIND 9 DNS server to WHMCS
Use PD BIND 9 DNS to manage your existing authoritative server through a prepared SSH connection. The server administrator supplies its connection and zone-management settings; customers do not need server credentials for everyday DNS editing.
Prepare the server connection
Install PD Modules, connect the account holding your licence, then install PD BIND 9 DNS from the Store and allow the appropriate staff role. Ask the BIND administrator to prepare a dedicated account with the access required for zone reads, validated writes and reloads.
Have the administrator confirm the intended zone directory, filename pattern, authoritative nameservers and required tool locations. Keep server preparation separate from the billing panel; do not grant general administrator access merely to make a test pass.
Add and test the provider
- Open BIND 9 DNS → Providers → Add a provider.
- Enter a descriptive name, SSH hostname, SSH username and SSH port.
- Supply the prepared SSH private key or SSH password in its dedicated field.
- Enter the administrator-supplied Zone file directory and Zone file pattern.
- Enter the public Authoritative nameservers and any required tool-location values.
- Run Test connection, inspect its result and add the provider after it passes.
For broad compatibility across the supported SSH implementations, use an administrator-prepared RSA key. Key-format support depends on the installation; do not assume every authentication failure means the password is wrong.
Verify the intended zones
The test checks the configured directory and required tool access, including BIND control connectivity. It does not prove write permission to every zone or that every discovered file is being served publicly.
Existing matching zone files are discovered without an import. Use the discovery guide for missing zones and the activation/delegation guide before creating new hosting. Keep private keys, passwords and full server configuration out of support attachments.
