Generate PD AWS EC2 checkout options in WHMCS
Offer customer-selectable EC2 resource choices after saving the product’s account and defaults. Inspect the generated group and your own prices before accepting orders.
Prepare the product and catalogue
Use PD AWS EC2, the intended server group and explicit region, instance type, image and root-disk defaults. Review the module’s Default AWS region and catalogue freshness separately. The catalogue and compute price source use that default region; the selected launch region can differ.
Generate and inspect all six dimensions
- Open PD Modules → PD EC2 → Products and find the intended product.
- Choose Generate options if no generated group exists. For an existing group, review the Rebuild from AWS confirmation before proceeding.
- Inspect Region, Instance type, Operating system, Extra storage, Automatic backup retention (days) and Backups you can keep. Review both backup controls separately.
- Check the extra-storage dropdown. It adds an EBS data volume; it does not resize the root disk, and choose the intended capacity from the dropdown.
- Review automatic-retention days separately from the customer’s retained-backup allowance. A zero allowance does not provide a free backup entitlement.
- Open System Settings → Products/Services → Configurable Options to edit the group choices and prices. The product’s Configurable Options tab assigns groups rather than serving as the complete pricing editor.
Review effective selections even for hidden dimensions. The generator seeds some product defaults, but hidden extra storage and backup choices still require inspection.
Review price suggestions and currencies
The instance-type suggestion adds the configured percentage to a Linux On-Demand compute cost from the default region. That is a markup on cost, not a profit percentage of the final selling price. The suggestion excludes parts of the full service cost, including root storage, public addressing and applicable OS costs.
The source compute price is in US dollars. The generator uses its numeric suggestion as an amount in the default billing currency rather than first converting it from US dollars. Do not treat a pre-filled amount as a correctly converted price. Verify and set every currency and billing cycle you offer, including choices with missing or zero source prices. The storage and backup suggestions also need review against actual usage costs.
Change visibility without rebuilding
Expand Customer-selectable dimensions, choose the intended visible choices and use Save visibility. This preserves the existing prices. Read the result, inspect the saved group and preview the actual checkout specification and total.
Rebuild with existing customisation in mind
Rebuild from AWS replaces generated choices and resets their prices to advisor defaults. Record customised choices and prices first and consider references used by existing services. This is different from saving visibility or synchronising retired catalogue choices.
Generating options does not enable the intended automatic-setup trigger or launch an instance. If the result of saving or rebuilding is unclear, inspect the existing option group and checkout form before generating again. Record which dimensions, choices or prices changed and whether the operation reported success or an error.
